This will be a special, but not long, post other than a few photos. The main purpose is because this past Friday, October 16, would have been the 50th wedding anniversary for Marie and I. Although many people reach that milestone, there are lots of others that don't for various reasons. Marie and I fall into that category.
I miss her...a lot.
I have many fabulous memories of the times we were together. She was such a loving, cheerful, creative, gentle, sweet, etc., etc., etc., person who I was blessed to have as my wife and best friend.
Rather than stay at home on the cool, cloudy misty day, very similar to our actual wedding day, and deal with the thoughts and emotions I would have, I decided to go out to Rondeau for a few hours. Marie and I had so many great memories there, as we lived in the park while I was working there, for more than 5 years. Here is our home, from the lake. It has changed a bit since we sold it and moved to Chatham back in 1988, but there are still memories and I wandered out to the lake, as Marie always enjoyed strolls along the beach.
I also spent some time along Tulip Tree Trail (TTT) as it was the one trail that we explored quite often when we lived there, as well as during regular visits later. This first one is typical of a view along the trail.

Next is Marie along the trail, fairly close by me, taken in late September.....
...and this next one is an early December photo of her not far from the previous photo, and she is taking a picture of the cloudy/misty conditions after the leaves have fallen.
This next one is one of my favourites. There is a close stand of three very large Tulip Trees, right along the trail. She was standing in the slight gap, and I got a photo of her. And then, true to her spontaneous and fun nature, she reached out and gave the tree a hug! I am so glad I got this one, as it says a lot about her, at least to me. I have a canvas print of this one, so I can enjoy it anytime I walk by it in the house. And when I am out on this trail, going by these trees, I think I hear the one saying it needs another hug.
This next one is at a trail leading to the east beach. We enjoyed visiting Rondeau in all seasons, especially at times when the park was not crowded. I have a canvas print of this one also.
We did many other things together, especially as we traveled over the years to so many natural areas in Canada and the USA. In no particular order, here are a few of the many, many dozens I can enjoy:
 |
| Kristin and Marie at Shenandoah NP |
 |
| Great Sand Dunes NP |
 |
| Redwoods NP |
 |
| Camping at Great Sand Dunes NP |
 |
| Marie and Tim at Great Sand Dunes NP |
 |
| Yosemite NP (taken by Tim) |
|
Marie and Tim at Mesa Verde NP |
There were other things representative of what we did, relatively locally.
 |
| At St. Clair NWA |
Next is what I came home to on one of my several trips that had me away from home for two weeks or so.
 |
| Blowing bubbles |
Next is Marie enjoying the wonderful stand of Wild Lupines at a natural area that occurred in my work area, which I visited from time to time.
And finally...
She is indeed a gift and treasure from the Lord!!!
